The Bamileke people of Cameroon are comprised of multiple grassland communities, each distinct. They are descendants of a migratory wave away from the Nile region in modern-day Sudan centuries ago. These traditional communities are celebrated for their beadwork and artistry. The Bamileke Mask is a decorative accent likely initially created for their Veneration of the Dead ceremonies. Each mask is handmade, so size and condition vary.
